I found this book online and was not even aware that Agatha Christie had written something like this. A murder mystery that was very fast paced and interesting.

“And Then There Were None” is a thrilling murder mystery written by Agatha Christie. When ten people are invited to Soldier Island by a mysterious character, U. N. Owen, the guests find themselves in a dangerous situation as they watch each other get picked off one by one according to an old nursery rhyme. The novel keeps you guessing, and chances are you won’t know who the murderer is until the last page of the book. Although I enjoyed reading “And Then There Were None”, it was quite hard to motivate myself to get through the first 40 or so pages. The book begins by describing the characters, which is common in books that were written in the 1930’s. It becomes a lengthy process considering the large amount there are, and was my least favorite part of the book. Not that the old style is bad, but it really shines through considering the first line of the book talks about Mr. Justice Wargrave "In the corner of a first-class smoking carriage" on a train. Aside from that, the book was partly predictable. When and how the murders will occur is easy to guess, but who will die and who did it is up in the air, keeping the mystery present. All in all, the cons are not a reason to forgo reading this book. Lastly, the entire book and murder is psychotic, but in an intriguing way. I was disturbed by the end of the book, only because some of the murders and the plan behind them was simply insane. Having said that, Agatha Christie used this to create another of her thrilling mysteries. I would recommend this book, and the advice I would give to a reader is don’t be discouraged as a result of the beginning. Push through the first few sections, and you’ll find a whole new situation which moves much more quickly.

Having read everything she had written, I've always debated as to which of Agatha Christie's works tops my list. For a while it was "ABC Murders". But, having re-read "And Then There Were None," I came to a conclusion that there's simply nothing else like it, and it tops my list. This novel once again proves that Christie was one of the best writers of the 20th century. It is so much more than just a "mystery" novel - it has it all: amazing character development, fabulous use of English language, top-notch plot, and knock-your-socks-off ending. One can debate as to whether or not this novel was intended to be "solved" by the reader, but at some point it becomes irrelevant. The originality of this novel is nothing short of stunning! No other "mystery" novel, in my opinion, tops this in terms of psychology, character development, and literary style. An amazing piece written by an amazing writer! In terms of pure "mystery," "ABC Murders" still tops my list, but I consider "And Then There Were None" to be the finest novel Christie has ever written. The only issue I have with this particular edition is: Political Correctness once again surfaces! It substitutes "soldiers" for "indians"!! Not that it makes much difference, but really....... for crying' out loud: GROW UP!!!!!!!!

Having just finished my first Agatha Christie novel, I had to ask myself what in the world was I waiting for. This book is a delightful read. It is no wonder that the author has sold more than a billion books worldwide. This book was just plain fun to read. Anyone who has ever seen himself as a amateur detective or who is a big fan of whodunits will be kept guessing at every turn. And the way that the bad guy (or gal) is revealed to the reader in a truly unique way. Go away John Sandford. Hang it up James Patterson. If you have read one you have read them all. I think that I am going to book passage on the Orient Express.

Marvelous. I came into this a bonafide Agatha Christie virgin and came out an addict. What a fun, quick-paced read! The characters were clear, and often many levels deeper (and far more sinister) than they appear. Out of the 10 souls stuck on Soldier Island, I did initially guess correctly the mastermind -- but Christie is sooo good at seeding doubt. "Oh, this guy would be logically the murderer. You know who's even more likely? THIS guy."One of my favorite bits about this well-written whodunnit? The Vera/Philip relationship. Two, young guests on Soldier Island who clearly have some attraction to one another. Christie sets up little hints until she turns it on its head and reminds both characters, "Oh yeah, either one of you could be a megalomaniacal murderer." Screw romance. Romance is dead. Christie is dedicated in this book to just making some macabre fun.

Very, very clever! So clever that I may read it again some day even though I know the ending, or actually BECAUSE I know the ending and want to read once again how Agatha Christie adroitly executed the plot.Well written and enjoyable.I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. The only reason I didn't give it five is because it wasn't emotionally satisfying. I didn't connect with the characters and feel their fear as I have in other mysteries, but intellectually it was extremely satisfying.

Bought out of curiosity as my wife and I generally eat small meals and often have a small snack at night, especially on weekends. This hardcover book includes about 60 food recipes plus some drinks. Food solutions range from cheese quesadillas to several types of wings to mint ice cream sandwiches to what-the-heck-is-that? Some of the entries, such as the bacon and gravy mac and cheese, would seem to be a little heavy for a late-night meal, but to each his own. Most of these recipes will make for a nice small dinner or lunch (or breakfast in some cases).The recipes are not very hard for the most part, but every cook will be missing some of the ingredients (and maybe a pan or two) for many of these, so it's worth planning ahead if something sounds good. Of the dozen or so recipes we've done so far, we've tweaked some for size (only two of us), a few for ingredients (when we were missing something), and so far they've turned out well. Beats having the same-old same-old when the munchies hit.Lots of pretty pictures of what the recipes should turn out looking like, but, hey, results may vary. Overall, a nice little addition to the kitchen.

I'm a fan of the YouTube channel and this delivers. It's got a lot of extra info in the anecdotes and annotations. The recipes tend to be esoteric but the handful I've tried are fantastic .A book of elevated, nicely off the beaten path recipes.

Really great book. Being a chef myself it is kinda cool to see what other chefs prefer after a long day. Tried about a 1/4 of the recipes so far and cant wait to make the rest

This might be one of the most unique cookbooks I have ever owned. The combinations and creativity of the chefs is phenomenal. I've made quite a few of these recipies for myself, friends and family and they have all received great results. Would recommend this to all levels of cooking skills. Something for everyone.

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. There are so many great dishes to choose from.

Feels more like a picture book than it should. I get that people like food pics, but it could use about 30-40% more actual written content.

So many recipes! Great buy for anyone who watches Munchies as much as I do.

I teach 6th grade Science aligned to NGSS standards and this book is amazing. There are errors within the teacher's directions that the editors missed as if the author copied and pasted from previous portions of the book and forgot to change the directions to fit the new topics. The vocabulary is a little intimidating and the directions as written are complex, so I have to retype it with clearer directions. I teach the entire spectrum of learners from struggling learners to gifted and they all have found success with the lessons in this book. When I say it is argument writing day, they no longer whine.

Very good activities I can't wait to try in class.

Great book to have to implement CER in your classroom! Tons of ideas and examples to use right away!

This coloring book includes 32 fun and different designs that speak to the unusual spirit in each of us. Some of the designs have messages – such as “Stay Weird” (something that I, as an ex-Austinite of many years, can appreciate.) From dream catchers to unicorns to magic lanterns, this is a cute and fun new coloring book by Thaneeya McArdle.In addition to the designs, the artist has included lessons in drawing, patterning, color techniques and media (including shading) as well as basic color theory at the front of the book, along with some great color examples (some of which I will show in my attached photos.) The lessons are generic to the color book line but the samples are specific to the designs in this book.The pages are white and are perforated for easy removal. The designs are printed on one side only with lovely quotes on the back. The quotes have to do with being in touch with your own spirit, soul, and desires. Below the quotes are lines which the colorist can use to journal their own thoughts and feelings.All of my markers and gel pens wick through these pages. If I use either of them, I will put a piece of thicker paper or freezer paper under the page I am working on to keep the following page from getting ink on it.

I LOVE this book! First, I enjoyed the tips and techniques presented in a clear and concise matter, and also some sampled colored pages, showing the colors used (and later on, you find out the mediums used for each picture). Suspected the rest of the book would be shortened, but not at al!!! 32 designs to color on super quality nicer paper, and the pages are perforated; a plus for sure! I would say the images have average details. Very suitable for markers. Single sided pages of course; however, DO put a page or two behind the page you are coloring with markers, as there will definitely still be some bleed with alcohol markers.

Free Spirit Coloring Book (Coloring Is Fun)These books by Thaneeya Mcardle are so much fun. I have four of her books and plan to eventually get more. The artwork is beautiful but not so intricate that a person with bad eyes wouldnt be able to color them. Some pages are more challenging than others but still not hard on the eyes. The pages are one sided and the paper quality is quite good. I've used only pencils and gel pens. With markers you may want to put a paper underneath to protect the next page.

This book is high quality, thick paper, with designs printed only on one side. The designs are beautiful and fun. I was looking for a coloring book that could hold up to acrylic paints. This book does the job. I put wax paper behind the page to protect from bleed through, but it wasn't necessary as none of the acrylic paints have bled through the paper. I plan to order other books from this artist.

I love all of Design Originals coloring books. Beautiful images that are challenging enough to keep me interested, but easy enough I can complete them even with a toddler running crazy!

Free Spirit was the first coloring book I bought. I enjoyed it. The prints are on one side and there are perforations to remove each page.i appreciate that very much. I like to remove the page before I color it. The designs were OK, but some had outlines that were too light.

This book covers a continent! I can't say it's completely comprehensive, but it could be comprehensive enough to use as your sole travel book if you wished. I bought it as a starter book, to plan a trip, and I like it enough where I know I gotta take it with me. I especially love the "Don't Miss" favorite places/activities/sights to see at the beginning of each country/chapter, and the few pages of history of the country at the end of each chapter.While geared for students, I would say it's not any less useful to us older folks. The book will always state that such and such cafe is a student hangout, young people congregate at this discotheque, etc. but other than notes such as that, it's really just a budget minded travel guide.One note: this book is printed on very thin, newsprint style paper, and has very small font. If you're over the age of 40, you might need to put on your glasses :)

In the 90's Let's Go was comprehensive, twice as thick, printed on newsletter like paper, and absolutely dense with info covering all European countries - a serious all-in-one reference book. Today it's just skeleton of information, and what?? the island of Crete is not even mentioned under the Greece section???

I used this back in 1984 with my sister when we backpacked through Europe. We loved it. Now my daughter is going on a trip to Europe, and I was anxious to see if the 2016 version is as good. It is actually better. It has all the main attractions, plus hints for the traveler with limited funds. It lists all the out of the way places that make a trip to Europe special. Highly recommend !

I bought several books ( The Rough Guide to Europe on a Budget and Rick Steves' Europe Through the Backdoor) along with this one before I travelled Europe for 6 weeks. This was the best purchase I made. It got me out of so many snafus. When I needed a place to stay in Venice and the hostel I had in mind had no space, it was this book that led me to an even better one. When I arrived in Barcelona, I would have never gotten to my hostel without the directions in Let's Go. I found a nice cozy cafe in Prague that I walked to every day a la suggestion of the writers. I made my itineraries based partially on their information. I had fun, and I was safe. As a young first-time solo female traveller, it was important that I could rely on information to make decisions on where to go or how to get there.I never imagined this book would be as useful as it was. But, it was. There was no way I could have planned every detail to make my trip safe and successful. Things come up. Plans change. And, I had to adapt. There's nothing like being in a foreign country, where you don't speak the language, and internet is nowhere to be found, and you don't know if you'll find a safe place to sleep for the night. Or, arriving somewhere new and exciting, and wondering what things are actually worth doing and worth seeing.This book isn't perfect. It's essential. I don't think any young, budget-minded traveller should go abroad without it.

I am disappointed. When I was a college student I used Let's Go Europe and found it an invaluable resource. That was in the 1980s and maybe my memory has dimmed, but this is not the same book. I obviously wanted the most current version as the information needs to be up to date (where do I find the train station, where is an ATM, how do I use the public transportation, etc). My first disappointment is that only the biggest cities are listed. Most of my trip is not in the book. The city I'm most excited to see and go to is Budapest. It is in the book, but entire paragraphs are about Istanbul and there is a lot of information sprinkled in about Turkish currency and laws. But Budapest is in Hungary. So, sloppy editing aside, I thought: I'll just look up Istanbul and hopefully those paragraphs were just accidentally switched. No. Istanbul, nor Turkey are even in this book. Weird and frustrating. I didn't think it was nearly as helpful as I remember the 80s version being and the writing style is an attempt at cute and "hip" with lots of references to things like the Kardashian's (Bruce Jenner's troubles, Kim's pregnancy -- what does that have to do with anything??), and an explanation of Budapest's history that, I guess, is an attempt to gain the attention of the self absorbed and put it in terms of: the Turks knew that this view would garner "likes" in the triple digits, but the Hungarians needed a new profile pic so they took it back. Maybe if the writing was better it would be cute, but I just found it embarrassingly dumb and wondered if the authors behaved like the stereotypical ugly Americans while researching the book. Finally, at the end there are acknowledgements from one author to the others. Shockingly juvenile. One thanked the others for putting up with the need for constant blow jobs. Maybe I would have giggled at that back when I was a college student - but probably I would have just thought, I need another guide.

Travelled Europe with this book, Dublin through to Prague, and we had a saying, "the book never lies." It's not that it has every fun thing you can do, but the descriptions and reviews are almost always exactly right or underselling it. The characters were interesting but not enough for their interactions to carry the story without more going on. There was also a plot point that I found completely unbelievable and I couldn't' suspend disbelief. Three years prior, Neruda had started writing a prisoner as part of a school pen pal project. Now this prison is out and they're best friends. I had a really hard time believing that any school would be able to get such a program going without legal repercussions and questions of safety. I know not all prisoners are dangerous but it didn't seem probable in today's day and age. "The ugliest, hardest, meanest men cry when they think no one can hear. They would be ashamed if the knew others could hear, but through all these years, I've clung to that sound because it gives me hope. Makes me realize we are all the same in the middle of the night, fighting against the great tide of loneliness that threatens to drown us. This book is a contemporary work, I was never been found of contemporaries but this one made me love contemporaries. The way it was written is really impressive, I really love the author’s style on writing, such an easy read. You can finish the book in one sitting because the story is really interesting. I fell in love with the characters of Neruda and Callie immediately.This book is about friendship, love, family and art 💜. One thing I love about it is that it shows me how love changes people, how art give life to anything to anyone. A book full of art is so magnificent it gave. I am motivated by this book to do more art because since I went to college I’ve been busy and stop doing art but this book brought back the magic in me 🙂 thank to the author for giving it back.About the ending, I’m satisfied how the story end it might not what others expected but I really think it’s the perfect ending for such a great story like this.I’m trying my best not to say parts that might spoil you guys. I highly recommend this book to everyone. All of you should check out this book.

This is my first book by this author and she did a great job on writing this story. I really enjoyed reading this and I want to read more of her books. The writting style of this book is beautfuly well written. I fell in love with this story.This is a story about friendship and love. Neruda falls hard for Callie but does she like him the way that he does?The characters are very well done. I feel like I could connect with Neruda. The details of the writting you can imagine being in the book and seeing what was happening with Neruda and Callie while doing there English progects together.Everything was good about this story. Carrie Arcos' third book Crazy Messy Beautiful was lighter that her other two books, yet doesn't shy away from tackling one of the biggest teen issues: love. I saw my own teenage self in the main character, hopeless romantic, sensitive artist, struggling to navigate the things we only know from film or television or poetry. Of course things don't go as hoped with our main character and we find out that films and poetry often get love so very wrong! Great read, I carried it with me for 48 hours, reading it in line at Disneyland and on a cross-country flight. It is perfect for the teen or adult in your love as a gift for St. Valentines Day! xo

Carrie Arcos's books just get better and better with each one she writes. Crazy Messy Beautiful is so rich and gave me all the feels; I laughed, I cried, I got angry and and felt angsty. Loved the characters and the journey i got to go on with them through this story.

I really enjoyed this book. It has all the things you expect from a Michael Anderle book, minus some of the more adult things since this is YA fiction. The only thing I'm somewhat confused on is is this a separate universe, or is it part of one of the others Mr. Andrew has written in. Other than that I look forward to reading the next book.

Well, I admit it. I have been reading your books but have not written any reviews. But you suckered me in with this one. First in a series! Cool! Just released not as cool. I now have to wait for another book and you have so many queues. So, the need to encourage you. This is a story with depth and purpose. Yes, the ideals she has remind me of BA. Not a bad thing. It was not age defined just an engrossing read with characters you care about. As always a cliffhanger, you are diabolical.

I am so mad, just as the story started getting interesting it ended. Want more of Stephanie and Todd. Cannot wait for Stephanie to gain better control. Really good.

I enjoyed the story and characters immensely. I really hope for several follow-up books to watch the characters develop. The mix of magic and science is just right.

Michael izzint boring with his world building. He has fleshed the characters within well. Funzies will entail when you enter his digital restaurant.

I’ve been reading Michael Anderle’s books since “Death Becomes Her”, and this is another very enjoyable read. Lots of action, magic, and character building. Can’t wait for the next one to find out what Stephanie gets in to....

Todd May is a professor of philosophy at Clemson University who has written books on subjects like poststructuralist anarchism. These books are not likely to show up on most people’s bookshelves or Kindles, but this book might and maybe even should.A number of philosophers throughout the ages have developed schools of ethical thought, and in the first chapter May discusses theories like consequentialism, deontology, and virtue ethics from thinkers like Immanuel Kant, Aristotle, and Peter Singer. The problem with most of these theories, in May’s opinion, is that they set the bar too high or too abstractly, and it would be difficult to live up to their requirements. So A Decent Life doesn’t try to define what it means to lead a “good life” at a level that most people could not attain, such as altruism. Instead it lays out how we might lead a “decent life”, an approach that recognizes our moral limits. It also avoids for the most part casting moral actions in terms of duties or obligations but instead emphasizes conducting ourselves to make other lives and “our often fraught world” a little better off because of our presence.May’s approach to morality has a simple framework, “the idea that decent moral action recognizes that there are others in the world who have lives to live.” The rest of the chapters describe the various aspects of a decent life within that framework. First, there are our relations with the people closest to us, those with whom we have personal contact. Then there are the other people with whom we share our world or who come before or after us in the world. Broadening our recognition of other lives a bit further, another chapter talks about being decent to nonhuman life (even if you are allergic to them, as May is to cats!). The final aspect of the moral life is political, which recognizes that we are all members of some organized society, a political entity. In the concluding chapter, May tells us how we can use the stories we tell about ourselves to help us recognize what our own values are.May’s writing is insightful, often in ways I had not expected. I was struck, for example, by his description of the impact of gazing directly into someone’s face and how it makes us recognize that other person as an entity, a living being. Most of the chapters lay out general frameworks that will fit people in very different environments and with many different values. In the chapter on Politics and Decency, though, he becomes very prescriptive and is likely to alienate if not actually offend many decent people. For example, he says, “In the United States,…we cannot think about our political situation without taking into account the history of racial oppression. To attempt to ask the question of acting in a politically decent manner without reflecting on race would be to miss a central defining aspect of that situation”. He rejects the value system that many non-racist people espouse that prefers more race-blind attitudes. Both of these should be respected as “decent” approaches to political discourse. In addition, his discussion of political action is almost entirely about protest and opposition. He does disapprove of lack of civility in protests or instances when liberal protestors attempt to keep a conservative speaker from appearing on a college campus (or vice versa). However, there is little or no reference to more positive and cooperative paths to political morality, like working in political campaigns, serving on board and commissions, testifying on legislation, or lobbying for programs. The overall message from this chapter is that a decent life politically must agree with the author’s political philosophy, and as a result, many readers may reject what is otherwise an excellent book.If you share Todd May’s commitment to poststructuralist anarchism, this is definitely the book for you. Even if your approach to being decent politically differs from his, if you can ignore your likely reaction to May’s recipe for living a decent life politically, there is a lot to like and a lot to learn in A Decent Life.
