I wasn't expecting to fall in love with the main character, Neruda by page 19, but it happened.Vulnerable, artistic, and awkward, Neruda is in love with love. He's studied it in the poetry of his namesake, but he's never experienced it until now. He thinks he knows how it works, but the reality of love is crazy, messy, beautiful. People surprise and disappoint you. Love falters when you expect it to soar, it endures when you expect it to die.

Critically acclaimed author Carrie Arcos's newest novel features an endearing hero looking for his one true love. In this unconventional story of friendship and love, we meet Neruda who falls hard for Callie as they work on an English project. But does she feel the same way? "Like all tragic love stories, she left me....for kindergarten at a different school. On the last day together, Ella gave me a kiss on the cheek. I was embarrassed and ran and hid from her refusing to come out and say good-bye.I never saw her again."There is something so incredibly endearing about Neruda and his view on life. His namesake, Pablo Neruda, is widely known for his intoxicating and lush views on love, romance, and soul mates. Neruda follows suit and believes that if he can just find love, he will have it all. But in real life, sometimes love isn't the end all be all or the end result. "Because Pablo Neruda was not just one of the greatest love poets. He was The Greatest Love Poet of all time.I, on the other hand, am the unluckiest in love. It's not for lack of trying. So far I'm about zero for seven, the names of the girls written on my heart like the scars I can still recall on Ella's knee—Marisol, Stephanie, Jessi, Angela, Trinity, and Elise."Carrie Arcos's writing is quite beautiful. Being in Neruda's perspective, his romanticized views on love as well as his artistic side lends itself to descriptive prose and some beautifully introspective moments. At the heart of the book is the friendship slowly formed between Neruda and Callie. The two are paired together for an English project where they have to do reports on each other. But soon both realize that they're just hanging out with each other and not just for the project. In a small way, the way their friendship formed reminded me a bit of Josh and Nasyta from The Sea of Tranquility—a bond formed that neither of them really wanted but it happened anyway.Neruda goes through a character change from beginning to end, with his views on life shifting slightly through his experiences, a coming-of-age novel through and through. I really liked seeing him parse through everything, as he is put in a difficult position with his parents."...secrets are insidious things. The truth wants to be found out."This is a very character-driven story but I felt like the plot was almost a little too sparse. The characters were interesting but not enough for their interactions to carry the story without more going on. There was also a plot point that I found completely unbelievable and I couldn't' suspend disbelief. Three years prior, Neruda had started writing a prisoner as part of a school pen pal project. Now this prison is out and they're best friends. I had a really hard time believing that any school would be able to get such a program going without legal repercussions and questions of safety. I know not all prisoners are dangerous but it didn't seem probable in today's day and age. "The ugliest, hardest, meanest men cry when they think no one can hear. They would be ashamed if the knew others could hear, but through all these years, I've clung to that sound because it gives me hope. Makes me realize we are all the same in the middle of the night, fighting against the great tide of loneliness that threatens to drown us. All longing for someone to hear, to truly know us as we are."* Thanks to Philomel Books for providing me with an early copy for an honest review.

This book is a contemporary work, I was never been found of contemporaries but this one made me love contemporaries. The way it was written is really impressive, I really love the author’s style on writing, such an easy read. You can finish the book in one sitting because the story is really interesting. I fell in love with the characters of Neruda and Callie immediately. This book is about friendship, love, family and art 💜. One thing I love about it is that it shows me how love changes people, how art give life to anything to anyone. A book full of art is so magnificent it gave. I am motivated by this book to do more art because since I went to college I’ve been busy and stop doing art but this book brought back the magic in me 🙂 thank to the author for giving it back.About the ending, I’m satisfied how the story end it might not what others expected but I really think it’s the perfect ending for such a great story like this.I’m trying my best not to say parts that might spoil you guys. I highly recommend this book to everyone. All of you should check out this book.

This is my first book by this author and she did a great job on writing this story. I really enjoyed reading this and I want to read more of her books. The writting style of this book is beautfuly well written. I fell in love with this story. This is a story about friendship and love. Neruda falls hard for Callie but does she like him the way that he does? The characters are very well done. I feel like I could connect with Neruda. The details of the writting you can imagine being in the book and seeing what was happening with Neruda and Callie while doing there English progects together.Everything was good about this story. A job well done. Recommend to ya readers and readers who love a good story.I received a ARC of this book to give an honest review.

Carrie Arcos' third book Crazy Messy Beautiful was lighter that her other two books, yet doesn't shy away from tackling one of the biggest teen issues: love. I saw my own teenage self in the main character, hopeless romantic, sensitive artist, struggling to navigate the things we only know from film or television or poetry. Of course things don't go as hoped with our main character and we find out that films and poetry often get love so very wrong! Great read, I carried it with me for 48 hours, reading it in line at Disneyland and on a cross-country flight. It is perfect for the teen or adult in your love as a gift for St. Valentines Day! xo

Carrie Arcos's books just get better and better with each one she writes. Crazy Messy Beautiful is so rich and gave me all the feels; I laughed, I cried, I got angry and and felt angsty. Loved the characters and the journey i got to go on with them through this story.

I loved it! Life is crazy messy and beautiful!

I've loved Carrie Arcos' previous two books and the third did not disappoint. I found myself quickly drawn into the story and stayed up way past my bedtime because I just couldn't put it down. A must read.

I really enjoyed this book. It has all the things you expect from a Michael Anderle book, minus some of the more adult things since this is YA fiction. The only thing I'm somewhat confused on is is this a separate universe, or is it part of one of the others Mr. Andrew has written in. Other than that I look forward to reading the next book.

Michael I am so happy you have written this book and look forward to the next book with bated breath. This is a refreshing new look at magic and humanity. I have read all you books and this is one of my favorites. Keep writing 🥰

Well, I admit it. I have been reading your books but have not written any reviews. But you suckered me in with this one. First in a series! Cool! Just released not as cool. I now have to wait for another book and you have so many queues. So, the need to encourage you. This is a story with depth and purpose. Yes, the ideals she has remind me of BA. Not a bad thing. It was not age defined just an engrossing read with characters you care about. As always a cliffhanger, you are diabolical.

I am so mad, just as the story started getting interesting it ended. Want more of Stephanie and Todd. Cannot wait for Stephanie to gain better control. Really good.

I enjoyed the story and characters immensely. I really hope for several follow-up books to watch the characters develop. The mix of magic and science is just right.

Michael izzint boring with his world building. He has fleshed the characters within well. Funzies will entail when you enter his digital restaurant.

I’ve been reading Michael Anderle’s books since “Death Becomes Her”, and this is another very enjoyable read. Lots of action, magic, and character building. Can’t wait for the next one to find out what Stephanie gets in to....

I loved this book. I look forward to the next one. The story was intriguing with great twists. The characters were fun. Continue with the good work MA.

A Decent Life: Morality for the Rest of Us, by Todd May

Review

"May has a knack for presenting philosophical concepts in ways that are easily graspable, and his advice for living 'a life with a goal more modest than altruism, but better than moral mediocrity' makes such a goal seem attainable for a wide audience. Anyone interested in living a more morally conscious life will want to give this wise guide a look."   (Publishers Weekly)"In the face of great injustice or radical indecency, it is tempting to give up our moral lives altogether. The challenges of being good seem impossibly daunting. Todd May has given us just a little bit of hope--a few practical suggestions for becoming just a little bit more decent. A Decent Life is the kind of book I will give to my students--or to my daughter: a humble, down-to-earth primer for living ethically in a world that seems intent on destroying itself. May has written a more-than-decent book. It is genuinely good." (John Kaag, author of Hiking with Nietzsche: On Becoming Who You Are)"Some philosophers have argued that morality requires us repeatedly to sacrifice our wealth and pleasure for the sake of others, including distant strangers and even animals. Recognizing that most people believe otherwise and are unwilling to live this way, Todd May offers an alternative, more realistic vision of the moral life that is neither saintly nor heroic but nonetheless decent. In writing that is lucid and enlivened by stories drawn from his own and other people's experiences, he reveals how, by showing appropriate respect for the fact that others (including animals) have lives of their own to live, we can satisfy the demands of morality while retaining our ability to have fulfilling and meaningful lives. Particularly in its discussion of our relations with political opponents, this book is a timely, illuminating, and inspiring work of moral philosophy." (Jeff McMahan, University of Oxford)"Moral philosophy often appears either as a very technical discipline or as a set of demands to be altruistic that few if any of us can realize. In this book, Todd May articulates the extremely appealing idea of a decent life as an alternative. He writes with the clarity of an analytical philosopher, but about existential themes that are usually addressed by continental thinkers. The book is almost completely without technical language, full of thought-provoking examples from everyday life, and it will be an edifying read for everyone who aspires to be a decent human being." Todd May is a professor of philosophy at Clemson University who has written books on subjects like poststructuralist anarchism. These books are not likely to show up on most people’s bookshelves or Kindles, but this book might and maybe even should.A number of philosophers throughout the ages have developed schools of ethical thought, and in the first chapter May discusses theories like consequentialism, deontology, and virtue ethics from thinkers like Immanuel Kant, Aristotle, and Peter Singer. The problem with most of these theories, in May’s opinion, is that they set the bar too high or too abstractly, and it would be difficult to live up to their requirements. So A Decent Life doesn’t try to define what it means to lead a “good life” at a level that most people could not attain, such as altruism. Instead it lays out how we might lead a “decent life”, an approach that recognizes our moral limits. It also avoids for the most part casting moral actions in terms of duties or obligations but instead emphasizes conducting ourselves to make other lives and “our often fraught world” a little better off because of our presence.May’s approach to morality has a simple framework, “the idea that decent moral action recognizes that there are others in the world who have lives to live.” The rest of the chapters describe the various aspects of a decent life within that framework. First, there are our relations with the people closest to us, those with whom we have personal contact. Then there are the other people with whom we share our world or who come before or after us in the world. Broadening our recognition of other lives a bit further, another chapter talks about being decent to nonhuman life (even if you are allergic to them, as May is to cats!). The final aspect of the moral life is political, which recognizes that we are all members of some organized society, a political entity. In the concluding chapter, May tells us how we can use the stories we tell about ourselves to help us recognize what our own values are.May’s writing is insightful, often in ways I had not expected. I was struck, for example, by his description of the impact of gazing directly into someone’s face and how it makes us recognize that other person as an entity, a living being. Most of the chapters lay out general frameworks that will fit people in very different environments and with many different values. In the chapter on Politics and Decency, though, he becomes very prescriptive and is likely to alienate if not actually offend many decent people. For example, he says, “In the United States,…we cannot think about our political situation without taking into account the history of racial oppression. To attempt to ask the question of acting in a politically decent manner without reflecting on race would be to miss a central defining aspect of that situation”. He rejects the value system that many non-racist people espouse that prefers more race-blind attitudes. Both of these should be respected as “decent” approaches to political discourse. In addition, his discussion of political action is almost entirely about protest and opposition. He does disapprove of lack of civility in protests or instances when liberal protestors attempt to keep a conservative speaker from appearing on a college campus (or vice versa). However, there is little or no reference to more positive and cooperative paths to political morality, like working in political campaigns, serving on board and commissions, testifying on legislation, or lobbying for programs. The overall message from this chapter is that a decent life politically must agree with the author’s political philosophy, and as a result, many readers may reject what is otherwise an excellent book.If you share Todd May’s commitment to poststructuralist anarchism, this is definitely the book for you. Even if your approach to being decent politically differs from his, if you can ignore your likely reaction to May’s recipe for living a decent life politically, there is a lot to like and a lot to learn in A Decent Life. As the subtitle says, it is about morality for the rest of us.My thanks to Netgalley for an advance review copy of this book.

The Last Castle: The Epic Story of Love, Loss, and American Royalty in the Nation's Largest Home, by Denise Kiernan

Review

“The Last Castle is a soaring and gorgeous American story that gripped me from the very first page. With a historian’s keen insight and a poet’s gift for language, Denise Kiernan depicts life at Biltmore with such skill, I felt like I was there through it all: weddings, divorces, elaborate (and slightly bizarre) balls, financial glory, financial ruin, murder, suicide, natural disasters, betrayals, love, loss, despair, and triumph. The story of George and Edith Vanderbilt’s remarkable lives will stay with me for a long time to come.”   (Karen Abbott, New York Times bestselling author of Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy)“If you inherited billions, how would you spend it? Don't bother building America's largest and most lavish home. It's already been done in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, where more than a million visitors a year stroll the grounds of Biltmore Estate. Yet only in the pages of Denise Kiernan's The Last Castle will they come to know George Vanderbilt, the bookish heir who began Biltmore in his 20s, and his determined widow, Edith, who kept it alive as a working estate and a time capsule of the Gilded Age. In the pages of The Last Castle, Kiernan serves up a true tale of American excess, generosity, and perseverance.” (Bill Dedman, New York Times bestselling author of Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune)"This is as much a story about the creation of Biltmore House as it is a window into what it was like to be an American at the turn of the 20th century. Kiernan makes Edith and George Vanderbilt, among the wealthiest Americans at the time, feel like living, breathing human beings navigating life's obstacles in this magnificent book. And she tells the story of how one fiercely devoted woman was able to save the home her husband loved." (-Kate Andersen Brower, author FIRST WOMEN: The Grace & Power of America's Modern First Ladies and THE RESIDENCE: Inside the Private World of the White House)"The rich have secrets. In her well-researched and captivating book, Denise Kiernan tells the fascinating story of how a phenomenally wealthy Vanderbilt scion transformed a rural North Carolina town by building the ultimate rich man's folly and reveals the eccentricities, heartaches, and even money problems of these Social Register denizens and their friends and employees." (Meryl Gordon, author of Bunny Mellon: The Life of an American Style Legend)"This is a timely and timeless American story of wealth and the responsibility and opportunity it carries. In Kiernan’s hands, this mashup of Downton Abbey-like extravagance set amid the “rugged mountain simplicity” of Appalachia reads like a Southern fairy tale — Brothers Grimm meets Gone with the Wind. A passionately researched family saga of death and divorce, suicide and sickness, fortunes gained and lost, spanning two world wars and set at the crux of the Gilded Age yielding to the modern era, The Last Castle is ultimately a story of fortitude and survival. A stunning and important achievement." (Neal Thompson, author of A Curious Man: The Strange and Brilliant Life of Robert "Believe It Or Not!" Ripley)"Ms. Kiernan's research is prodigious....she brings the place to life.  And she doesn't leave out the juicy bits from the family history:  adultery, bankruptcy, suicide." (The Wall Street Journal)“The book’s vitality lies in the details [Kiernan] reveals about the architects, writers, artists and peers of the Vanderbilts who spent time at Biltmore.” (The New York Times Book Review)“Evocative, meticulously researched. . . Kiernan brings a deft eye for detail and observation to a very different kind of story. . . . Her re-creation of Biltmore’s origins hits like a flute of fine champagne while lending social context to the mansion. . . . ‘The Last Castle’ is Edith Wharton’s ‘The Age of Innocence sprung to life. . . . Biltmore is an ideal vessel for an exploration of our worship of affluence and social cachet, and more importantly, the American myth of classlessness. ‘The Last Castle’ plumbs these themes and history with subtle insight and élan. “   (Knoxville News-Sentinel)"But reading The Last Castle, the flowing novel-like narrative really is 'about America.' It's about celebrity culture, wealth disparity, the remarkable charity and foresight of a few wealthy people, the urge to create and maintain a family legacy and, in its darker moments, the ever-present potential for personal tragedy. It's grounded in Kiernan's years of globe-trotting research and yet also immediately relevant to the topics that clog social media in 2017." (Asheville Citizen-Times)"A story that brings the glitz and glamour of the British royal family to American soil.... Reigning royalty of the Gilded Age, Edith and George Vanderbilt, and their lifetime of financial excess, ruins, scandal, and perseverance come alive on these pages. (RealSimple.com)

The Last Castle is a phenomenal read. When I went to school in North Carolina years ago, I visited Biltmore House several times so as soon I learned about this book, I was dying to read it. I am so glad it lived up to my expectations. Denise Kiernan chronicles the tale of George Vanderbilt, the man who ultimately built the largest residence ever constructed in the United States – 175,000 square feet on 125,000 acres of rugged wilderness. Biltmore House contains 250 rooms in all including: 33 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, 3 kitchens, 2 bowling alleys, an indoor pool, and a library with 65 fireplaces to supplement the complicated heating system necessary to keep the house warm in the winter. In The Last Castle, Kiernan comprehensively describes how Biltmore House came into existence from George’s first purchase of land in the Asheville, North Carolina area to the final completion and opening of the Music Room in 1976 long after the home became a tourist destination. With the confidence and financial cluelessness of someone who inherited untold wealth, George Vanderbilt never worried about funds nor created any type of budget within which those assisting with the building had to adhere. As a result, Biltmore House was incredibly expensive to erect and subsequently operate, and as a result, it severely and irreparably impacted the family’s finances. Numerous rooms were not completed, and plans for various parts of the property abandoned. As I read about the process of building Biltmore House, I found it very hard to imagine undertaking such a project with little or no budget planning. While George had the idea to build Biltmore House and hired the various individuals to implement his idea, Edith is the individual who protected both Biltmore House and the Asheville area and ensured that her husband’s legacy would remain. She was devoted to the area and the Biltmore’s employees. I found Edith fascinating and was pleased that Kiernan devoted substantial pages to Edith’s story. She lived for a long time after George died and left quite a legacy of her own.Not only does Denise Kiernan thoroughly and thoughtfully recreate the timeline for and the process that went into the building of Biltmore House, she also places this monumental endeavor into its historical context. Adding historical context is either skillfully accomplished or haphazardly included in a manner that makes the story disjointed and hard to follow. Thankfully, Kiernan masterfully incorporates the history of both the Vanderbilt family and George’s wife Edith Stuyvesant Dresser’s family, events such as the sinking of the Titanic and the Lusitania, both World Wars, the development of Forestry Programs (such as the one developed at Biltmore House), and the impact of the Great Depression; I never found myself wondering why a topic was being addressed or how I was suddenly reading about some new subject. The Last Castle flows beautifully, and I learned copious amounts of information about both the Vanderbilts and Biltmore House and in addition the decades spanned by the building of this magnificent mansion. The book abounds with fascinating facts and details from the late 1800’s to the death of George and Edith’s daughter Cornelia’s death in 1976. The highlights for me were the descriptions of John Singer Sargent painting various portraits at Biltmore House, the innovative refrigeration, wiring and elevator systems installed at the house, that Teddy Roosevelt was visiting Biltmore House when the idea for the teddy bear came about, and that Edith’s second marriage was to Elbridge Gerry, the individual who inspired the term “gerrymandering”. I also was unaware that George and Edith had almost traveled on the Titanic but chosen last minute to take an earlier ship. The historical information included in the book was a true highlight for me.The Last Castle provides a glimpse into the Gilded Age, an era of excess and untold wealth, and one man’s decision to build the grandest home in the United States. I highly recommend this fabulous book. Thanks to Touchstone and Goodreads Giveaways for the chance to read this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Since I've always been interested in the Vanderbilt's story, I was anxious to read more about Biltmore. We've been there 3 times and each time has been a thrill. There is no place like it. "The Last Castle" tells plenty about the house, but as important to me, it tells more about George and Edith and the men who helped make Biltmore what it was, and is. Some of the chapters got into deep detail, which might not be interesting to some people, but since most of it was new to me, I found it interesting, because no other book I've read, including "Lady on the Hill" delved as deeply in the lives of people who, for the most part, were unknown to me-- not the famous, but the teachers and forrest workers who taught at the schools on the grounds. But my main interest was the house. I would have liked to know more about how it was to actually live there. Why is there no ballroom? Why wasn't the Halloween room mentioned? And surprising to me was that George and Edith only lived there in the Fall and Winter. They spent more time in Europe, NYC and Washington DC. The book has been fascinating to read. I began to read it 4 days ago and am finished. I'm going to re-buy "Lady on the Hill" and read it again. But "The Last Castle" was superb. I am anxious to go back for another visit.

"The Last Castle" is a vibrant account of the building of America's largest mansion, the 175,000 square foot Biltmore House in Asheville, NC in then 1890s and its remarkable survival to the present day. That said, it's really about the people bound to Biltmore, particularly George Washington Vanderbilt and his wife Edith. Author Kieran tells this pleasingly descriptive story with a knowledgeably researched hand though with some slips into occasionally awkward, melodramatic and ornate prose. Nothing as ornate as the Biltmore House itself, however, a most unforgettable palace possessing a munificent yet cold and soulless interior. (Confession: I have family in Asheville, have visited Baltimore more than a dozen times and was part of a production unit making a behind-the-scenes video there some 25 years ago.) That said, I learned much from this book including the unknown (to me) story of many of America's most valuable art treasures being stored at the house during WW II.Perhaps the author's biggest challenge, partially met, was to make G.W. Vanderbilt interesting, and while he had some notable ideas about what he wanted at Biltmore, Vanderbilt was largely an empty vessel. His wife Edith was much more intriguing and it is to her -- and her grandson and his descendants -- that we owe the preservation of Biltmore through turbulent generations. Kieran's is a very good read with a couple of picky complaints: nothing I can recall in the house seems "cozy" to use one of the author's words, and I would love to have had more and better photos to show the interior to readers unfamiliar with it.

What happens when a dangerous biker finds a woman bound and bruised in the trunk of a car he just jacked? Well, he protects her, of course.Nix is thrown for a loop when he discovers a sweet innocent blonde in the trunk. He is compelled to protect her, even when him MC brothers warn him against it. Olivia has no memory of how she ended up into the trunk of her father's car or why. However the men of the Cobras MC think she is an accomplice to their rival MC gang Hell's Fury.Nix and Olivia are holed up in his apartment with nothing but an intense sexual chemistry and a bunch of condoms. You can guess what happens next. They fall for each other hard as her memory starts to return. By the time she remembers who she is, a prima ballerina with a lawyer father who deals in criminal activity, things start to go left.To protect her father, she leaves Nix's protective care and runs straight into the lion's den. Nix has to go to battle with his brothers to convince them to help him free her. A full out war ensues as the Cobras protect their territory from the Fury and get Liv back in the process! A HEA moment closes the book out.I enjoyed parts of this book, but felt as if it was missing something. Nix, for all of his bad ways, was really just an old softy. He wasn't tough enough to me. He should have been a beast as the VP of the Cobras, but he wasn't . I needed him to be more alpha.

Review by Christine StokesFinding a badly beaten gorgeous girl in the stolen Mercedes was not what Phoenix, VP of Steel Cobra MC expectedto find. With no memory, Olivia relies on Phoenix to help heal her. He later learns that the people behind thekidnapping of Olivia is none other, their rivals Hell's Fury. Olivia is a ballerina who was out celebrating herfather's birthday who did not see her kidnappers coming.Members of Steel Cobra is not too happy with Phoenix in keeping Olivia but he will do everything he can to keepher safe after finding out the real reason behind her kidnap. The chemistry between Phoenix and Olivia was insanely hot and off the charts.Ms Monroe wrote this story with such intensity, with twists and turns that have you rooting for Olivia and Phoenix. The story line was great with well developed characters which kept me glued to the book.I received a free copy of this book and chose to voluntarily leave a review.

Wow! Evie Monroe has written a gritty MC romance that made my toes curl! I bought “PHOENIX” because I was familiar with the author, but the hunk on the cover was too much to resist! The trappings inside the book were even better. Monroe’s descriptive eloquence paired a beautiful amnesiac lady in need with the street-smart, gun touting grittiness of Phoenix Nash. While the rest of the story goes to prove that opposites attract, the cacophony of bad that flows through that message almost obliterates it. Add then the total steamy hotness of the chemistry that these two possess, it is no wonder the world around them seems to combust! I loved every minute of the ride. STEEL COBRAS rock!! And so does the 5+Star recommendation for “PHOENIX!” Get your copy today. Happy pages! 😉

Hopefully this will be a series, Evie. Loved Phoenix. He was soft with Olivia but he was hard with anyone who threatened his MC family or anyone coming between him and Liv including his family. Nix steals a car from the country club. He hears a noise just before he gets to his meet-up. He and his brothers open the trunk and find a beaten and unconscious Liv. After being told by their Prez Cullen he needs to dump her at the hospital. Nix decides he wants her for himself. When Liv comes to she has amnesia. She is wary of Nix but learns to trust him when he keeps his distance until she feels comfortable enough with him. They soon find out that her father is involved with shady things and that's how she ended up where she did. In Nix she finds passion she never had. She is angry with her father but one phone call ends up with her life in danger and Nix out of control with worry and trying to find her and hell and death to anyone who hurts her. I am hoping we get stories from the other MC members, especially Nix's brother Jet.

OMG!!This MC story is not only supper hot but extremely suspenseful. Phoenix is the VP of the Steel Cobras and has been in the gang for years as well as his little brother. On a job to heist a particular car, he runs across a tiny little problem with blonde hair and kissable lips but unconscious. Seems the car had an unknown passenger. He is totally fascinated with her and can't seem to do what is expected of him. So he takes her home with him. She awakens in a place she doesn't know and with a man she doesn't recognize. In fact, she has no idea of anything. The hit to her head left her with amnesia. What both of them recognize is the heat and chemistry between then. The story becomes more suspenseful as another rival MC become involve. Tighten your seat belt and be prepared to be pulled into a world of violence that is at times softened by love.Fantastic sorry and read!!

I loved this story. Motorcycle clubs fighting for dominance, a dad who makes you wonder does he really care for his daughter, a kidnapping, a car heist, this story has plenty of twists and turns, romance, sex and intrigue. Once I started the book I didn't want to put it down, this was a cover to cover read for me.I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters. It even comes with a happily ever after.

A biker and a ballerina. Who knew?! Phoenix and Olivia meet under strange and dangerous circumstances. He’s stealing a car, and shes tied up in the trunk? Their connection was hot and fast., the chemistry immediate. And all he knows is he will protect her no matter what. Great story. Hot and steamy loving. My only complaint is Olivias father deserved a different ending. Like jail time. Other than that. Loved the book! Highly recommend!!

Phoenix is stealing a car which just happens to have Olivia tied up in the trunk. What a way to meet someone! This book has it all, guns, firefights, anger, cussing, bulked up biker dudes, rivalry, blood, death, dancing, and a very satisfying ending.
