This is my second coloring book by Teresa Goodridge. It shares some of the same issues that I had with the first book, which are 1) the designs are very sketchy and seem sized down from the original artwork and 2) the “sample” colored images in the book (front and back page both inside and out) are of the actual painted artwork on which the designs are based rather than a colored sample based on the line drawings in the book. Even though it has similar issues, I find that I like these designs better and the faces of the people in the book (with the exception of those on the Ferris wheel designs) can be colored with at least a flesh tone marker or pencil.I can work with the smaller less finished drawings but I think it is a little disingenuous to show the paintings and allow customers to think that their finished projects can look anything like those. It seems like someone made a line drawing version based on the original work. Details are changed somewhat and sizing becomes an issue. The line drawings have a cartoon feel to them rather than the elegant look of the original art.The designs are evocative of summer with beach, cabin, dock and other scenes which bring to mind summertime activities. There are lots of flowers and insects that make me think of gardening during the warmer months.For my first project, I chose to do a wooded cabin in the woods. It reminded me of summer vacations that my family has had in the past. I was able to use alcohol-based markers for the first coat of color and then details with my colored pencils. I'll post a photo of my first project as well as samples from the book.This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper. I will list, in the comments section below, the coloring medium I use for testing and for most of my coloring projects.31 Summertime designs with a cartoon style quality compared to colored samples in the book.Designs are printed one side of the pagePaper is white, medium weight, slightly smooth and has perforated pages.Glue BindingThe designs stop well before the perforations and have a framing line at the outer edgesAlcohol-based markers bleed through this paperWater-based markers bleed through in spotsGel pens and India ink pens leave shadows of color on the back of the page. India ink can spot through on the paper if I apply multiple layersColored pencils work well with this paper. I was able to get good color and to get deeper pigment by layering the same color. I found that I could layer multiple colors and blend easily using a pencil style blending stick. This was the case with both oil and wax-based pencils. Hard lead pencils leave dents on the back of the page.I prefer to use a blotter page under my working page to keep ink from seeping through or dents from marring the pages below. You can also remove pages from the book to color. I like card stock for my blotter page but a couple of sheets of heavyweight paper work as well.

I enjoyed coloring Summer Scenes, if you are stressed or need to relax and get away, I recommend this adult coloring book. Also, for beginners like myself, this is a great coloring book to experiment with water colors and other mixed media.

Really enjoyed coloring these scenes. I did them all in colored pencils for the shading.I like scenes/people to color rather than "kaleidoscope" type pictures.

Another great book from Teresa Goodridge. The pages are a good thickness. The whole book is filled with excellent pictures. I received yesterday and couldn't wait to Color a picture. This is going to be one of my favorite coloring books.

THIS BOOK IS A REALLYYY RELAXING BOOK TO COLOR IN. THE SCENES ARE SO SERENE AND PEACEFUL THEMSELVES THEY ARE A PLEASURE TO COLOR.

This is the first adult coloring book I bought. I was so excited to see realistic scenes instead of those abstract designs with so much detail and tiny spaces and this didn't disappoint. I have been coloring as often as I can and am already on my 5th page after only a little more than 2 weeks. I can't wait to see what other books Creative Haven has by this artist.

The firdt pic I colored was the pic that was on the front of the book just so I could have some reference of what colors to use as I am a beginner, it was fun & not too hard bc heck, we r doing this for relaxation & don't want to be stressed by the coloring, nice summer pics & have fun. I have done a couple more of the pics in this book. I really like this book as I am practicing my skills. I have watched many tutorials to help learn some of the different techniques in shading. The only amusing thing that has happened is when I get confused at where the sky starts & the hills end in some pics so some of the sky in my world is green! lol

His academic textbooks and research publications demonstrated the importance of an athlete's remarkable brain in anticipating and acting on opportunities during competition. He has consulted with teams in the NBA,NHL, NFL, MLB, Australian Rules Football, the Spanish men's national soccer team, and Olympic sport organizations around the world. Len is a former president and a fellow of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, and currently section editor on psychology for the International Journal of Health & Sport Science. Recently, the American Psychological Association honored Len with the "Distinguished Service to the Profession" award. Today, Len is a co-founder and senior consultant at 80 Percent Mental Consulting, advising coaches, teams and sports organizations on developing athlete cognition. The book is finely edited to make it eminently readable. It's not just about when and how to teach young people the way to achieve top-tier performance, but more a recognition of the role that the mind plays in that quest. This is a guide for self-reliant, mindful non-neurotic living we can each apply in our daily lives. Move over Dr. Jordan Peterson.

This books begins to break down the mental aspect of athletic development. More importantly, the authors do so in a way that can benefit coaches and players of all levels. Parents can and should read too.

I was made aware of this book from a mention on one of Vern Gambetta’s Facebook postings. It piqued my interest as I am a coach for a youth sports team and I had been thinking about how to use the neuro scientific results that has been seemingly flying out academia. I bought the book at the beginning of August and decided to give it a crack, an unusual thing for me as I usually have a tall To Be Read stack balancing precariously on my end table. I had just finished reading Grit, the book by Angela Duckworth and I was excited but also puzzled by the unfulfilled promise of that book. I was disturbed by the lack of any discussion as to How to train Grit. I was definitely looking for something more all-encompassing of the neuropsychology area. As it turned out, this book explained many of my puzzles.The book is split into three clear sections; the reason for the split is well explained in the introduction. The three sections are: Playmaker’s Foundation, Playmaker’s Cognition, and finally Playmaker’s Commitment. The first section describes the research that has been done on defining what the authors mean by the Playmaker’s qualities and how they researched the playmaker qualities. Unlike most of the summaries of the literature on the subjects, the account of the research is fascinating and the synopsis of the results and conclusions were concise and explicit without shortchanging the nuances of this research.Playmaker’s Cognition is the revelatory section of the book, in my opinion, as this is where the authors deconstructs the mythology around the decision making process that Playmakers go through as well as the cognitive processes that explains some of the why’s and how’s. This was particularly interesting because the authors were able to delineate the specific steps for decision making and the motivation for the steps, which implicitly gives us an idea as to how to train the athlete to work towards attaining the state of being of a playmaker. There are three chapters in this section: Search, Decide, and Execute, each chapter addressing the progressive steps of good decision making. This was a revelation to me, even though in hindsight the steps and sequence made perfect sense. It was one of those: why didn’t I think of that moment.Finally, the last section on Playmaker Commitment section is the section where the authors address a number of topics appearing in the popular press that seemed dodgy. Topics like Grit, Growth Mindset, and the ten thousand hour rule; topics that had captured the imagination of many who are seeking a formula or a recipe for success in whatever endeavor they have an interest in. Since this book follows the others by a few years, the authors were able to address the ambiguities inadvertently left exposed in the other books, ambiguities that pulled the mass audience zealously into popular, yet misguided and false conclusions. I had read the tomes regarding all of these ideas, and they left me puzzled since the books did not address how to attain these qualities, but this book boldly states that no one really knows how to train grit, or inculcate a growth mindset, or truly believe that ten thousand hours is sufficient for mastery. In fact, ten thousand hours idea is not even applicable to the sporting world that this book is addressing. The authors did a real service for the other authors and debunked the populist myth that had taken over the popular press.In fact, there will be many who will find dissatisfaction with the lack of a formula with this book, because in the end the authors are scientists and careful practitioners, it is their professional responsibility to be accurate and precise, even if doing so means not giving sound bitesques conclusions. They do however give us enough information for us to experiment ourselves and try to apply the concepts that they were able to uncover and summarize.I am planning the season for a youth team that I coach, and I am now rethinking my usual coaching plans and integrating the ideas from this book as a part of the major revamp of my philosophy and the way the various parts of my coaching fit together. This will be an adventure of a grand scale. I am happy to have this guide which does not give me a recipe but will guide me through my thinking and philosophizing.

The authors present applicable information for athletes, coaches, and parents. Athletes should use this information to help them prepare and be committed teammates; parents can use this to productively support their sons/daughters; coaches should be using this to plan effective and efficient practices and maximize the potential of all student-athletes. As an Athletic Director, I made this book available to all my coaches on staff!

I rented a used textbook for a class and it came in a very good used condition. There was very minimal pencil marks in it so it was easy to read and the corners of the pages were slightly bent, but not that bad.Aside from the condition of the book, I was surprised at the clarity of the information and I liked that it had work pages that you could fill out to help you with figuring out how to eat better and exercise more efficiently. I also liked that it had exercise and stretching positions and moves, and explained how the positions/moves help or harm you.

I was hoping to rent this book as I needed it for a class, but I bought it for a large price-but it is packed full of important and useful information for life outside of the class. I know i've gone back in and read about the nutrition section for personal use. I would like to see it as a rental option though for future students.

About the Author

Jen Gunter, MD, is an OB/GYN and a pain medicine physician. She writes a lot about sex, science, and social media, but sometimes she writes about other things because, well, why not? She has been called Twitter’s resident gynecologist, the Internet’s OB/GYN, and one of the fiercest advocates for women’s health. She first started her quest to help provide quality information by writing The Preemie Primer, a guide for parents of premature babies. In addition to her academic publications, her writing has appeared in places like The New York Times, The Cut, USA Today, The Hill, and Self.  She has taken on politicians, celebrities, and the press over misinformation and fake news about women's health care.   Dr. Gunter was born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada, and graduated from The University of Manitoba School of Medicine in 1990 at the age of 23. In 1995 she completed her OB/GYN training at the University of Western Ontario and moved to the United States to complete a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Kansas. After completing her fellowship she continued studies in pain medicine. She is board certified in OB/GYN in both Canada and the United States. She is also board certified in pain medicine. I HATE DnD knockoff books. Most of them are not worth the time spent on them, and after I got recommended this series from a friend on Tumblr, I was afraid it would be that sort of thing. "Here, look at my Dragonborn OC, read along while I basically narrate the last two years of my gaming sessions, like we're still in 8th grade and there's nothing else to do" You know the type. We all do.This is not that. In fact, I sort of feel bad that I thought this would be another 'gaming session with the serial numbers filed off' type thing. I hesitated at the lizard-people being named atherians, but that wore off most of the way through the first book. The world-building is pretty good in that respect, I got sucked in pretty quickly. It starts off somewhat uneven in the first book, tho. I think the author was still getting his 'sea-legs', so to speak, on the world and style he wanted with this series. He definitely finds it, though. Raz is, of course, super badass, but considering you're told from the outset that he ends up being a legend among many nations, I'm fine with letting that pass. He's got a good grasp of people and internal motivations, and things are reasonably realistic while still getting that delicious charge of 'there is amazing shit happening right here right now'. I'm a little over the 'two people fated to be together' schtick, but this manages to use that trope without it being completely obnoxious, and nobody's pants are vibrating with carnal need while actual plot things happen. Warning, of course, there is a certain amount of rape and torture. Not happy with that, but when your book is about a dragon-dude becoming a messiah/cultural hero/Breaker of Chains figure, it isn't exactly surprising.There are some random typos/errors, but it doesn't happen often enough to pull a person out of the story completely. All in all, I got this through Kindle Unlimited, and was pleased enough to purchase it outright, and recommend it to my friends. I definitely look forward to more of this author, I think he can do some great things.

I read about the first four volumes on Reddit, where the author was talking them up and there seemed to be a decent amount of interest. They were $0.99 for all four and I figured I didn't have much to lose.I am and continue to be pleasantly surprised at these books. They're very well written, with characters that are relate-able and believable, the story moves at a brisk pace and it's very fun. I've found myself unable to put this down on several occasions.

I downloaded this series on KU after seeing an ad on Facebook. Before I even finished I had come back to buy the box set. This series is an incredible combination of fantasy adventure, character development, and cultural introspection. I love books that really dig in to the interactions between people of different cultures or races, and I love books with really believable, well thought out characters and relationships. This series has both, and a riveting plot to boot. I can’t wait for book 5!

The first book started a little stilted but soon flowed into a strong voice. There are typos here and there, but rarely any that draw you out of the immersion. Those are the only bad things I can say about this series. If you enjoy good world building, interesting characters, and a plot that races along like a juggernaut, this is for you!

This series is amazing, one of my favorite series of any genre. O'Connor has built a vivid world with compelling stories. Although he is faithful to the basic tenets of fantasy he has some fresh new approaches that really pull you in, making each book a serious page-turner.In fact, I enjoy these novels so much I bought the collection despite already owning the books individually. O'Connor is just that good.

I have not devoured a collection of books at such a voracious pace in a very long time. Bryce O'Conner paints a vivid and deep world that holds its own against the likes of Tolkien and J.K. Rowling.The world is dark and gripping, never shying away from death and the the more vile sides of humanity. Seeing the growth of the stories hero and the amazing cast of characters surrounding him is, for lack of a better word, a gift.Raz and Syrah will forever be cast among some of my favorite fictional characters, falling in love with them is something that cannot be avoided.I await the 5th and final novel with the utmost anticipation.

A thought provoking and inspiring series. If you take nothing away from this but a good story, you have no soul. Raz gets under your skin and invites you on a journey of soul searching and regret that comes full circle to a life of sacrifice and purpose.

An enthralling story of sword and sorcery. Featuring the long awaited leader/savior.Very difficult to put down. This story line flows well and is easy to follow.
