I bought this for my 9 year old grandson. It’s written in a creative way that should appeal to young boys.

Great book, very well done.

As my daughter is nearing her eighth birthday in only a few more months, I'd been seeking age appropriate resources to help guide and grow her faith in the Lord. She's getting older and more childish things seem to be passing away in her life. She's beginning to ask a lot of questions and thinking about what her purpose in life could be.My search however was proving a bit difficult with most books and magazines being geared more toward older pre-teenagers. Things like boyfriends, cellphones, and fashion which most other devotions are filled with didn't really fit her criteria.However after I came across The Plans I Have For You Devotional and Journal set by ZonderKidz my search ended!The hardcover 160 page devotional is meant to be gone through over the span of 90 days. It's based upon the Bible verse Jeremiah 29:11 " For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.". There are six sectors; I've Got Big Plans For You, I've Given You a Purpose, I Don't Do Small Things, There's Nothing You Can't Do, Find That One Thing, & What I Created You To Do. Each sector focuses on something different that all ties together beautifully.The illustrations throughout the book are awesome! The text and devotions give one something to think about. There is always a Bible verse for each day and questions to go along with each devotion if you pick up the corresponding journal. My daughter has seemed to enjoy this devotional and feels that it appeals perfectly to girls around her age. I personally think it's wonderful that it is not overwhelming to her. She'll pick it up all on her own and really contemplate and share her thoughts whether with me or in the journal. It's growth in her walk that I am so very proud of!This devotion overall guides the reader through their present each day and encourages them to look to the future in discovering God's purpose for their life. In turn, they will find peace, security, and the love and acceptance that we only can receive from the Lord. I highly recommend getting the journal and the devotional together!*I did receive a sample of the product in exchange for this review and post.*

Seriously, it’s absolutely perfect for the desires I have for my kid at this point in her life, where she’s starting to imagine the future and her role in it.Sectors include:I’ve Got Big Plans for YOU!I’ve Given YOU a PurposeI Don’t Do Things SmallThere’s Nothing YOU Can’t Do!Find That ONE ThingWhat I Created YOU To DoFocus. Kids are born self-centered. I’ve been trying to fight it, but it’s natural. This devotional/journal taps into that self-centeredness, making it appealing to kids, and uses it to shift the focus to the power of God and what He can do in you and through you.Bible-Rich. Each day’s devotional includes a Bible verse or story, and the focus is on that Bible reference. Both the devotional and journal invite the child to contemplate what God is saying to her through that passage.Illustrations. Love love love. Everything about both the devotional and journal is just visually appealing. The devotional is full color, while the journal is muted to allow the child to add the color. It compels the child to spend longer thinking through the Bible passage.Journal. You absolutely need the journal to go along with the devotional. This is my favorite part! The very first page is perfect for my daughter, who is all into secrets and locks on diaries at this point, with a request: “…if I don’t know you are looking at at my journal, put it down and go get your own. Please. And thank you.” Verses are repeated from the devotional, with awesome illustrations that invite the child to draw, doodle, contemplate, and think through how the verses are relevant to her.This is an absolutely terrific, hopefully life-changing gift for the tweens in your life!

I have found this is the perfect way for my eight-year old to learn to read a devotional and follow a journal along with it.Both of my boys have enjoyed reading the daily devotionals from this book. This hardcover devotional has short daily lessons and recommended for ages 8-12. Since we always do daily devotionals together I wasn't sure how well my five-year old would understand this book. So far he has done amazing with it. The first thing that pulled him in was the illustrations. They are beautifully done, although I'm not sure how well they would appeal to say a twelve-year old. My eight-year old has enjoyed the illustrations as well.**I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions**
